Greetings from NESU-Porky!
Unfortunately, this year has been very different than we expected. But that doesn’t mean we didn’t get to have fun!
Thankfully, we were able to take part in the orientation week that took place in the end of August. It was lovely to see old friends after a long time, but also meet new ones. NESU-Porky attended events actively and made sure to spread the joy of NESU to new students as well. The highlight of our week was ‘The Amazing Pori Race’ where we got to arrange a checkpoint for the new students. The checkpoint included singing and drinking, the two favorite things of a nesuist!
At the beginning of September, the day finally came when we were able to organize our first actual sitzparty, the “Harkkasitsit”. Theme of the sitzparty was to show where you are from by dressing according to it. Some changes had to be made in the name of safety, for example we had to limit the number of participants. It was a hard decision to make, but we had to make sure all interested freshmen fit in. However, the sitzparty was a great success and everyone had an amazing time!
As you know, soon after that the pandemic took a turn for the worse again. Needless to say, there were so much more great ideas and plans we had in mind for year 2020 that had to be postponed.
At the beginning of the year our plan was to make NESU-Porky bigger and better, in which we think we were successful in despite all the obstacles. There is enthusiasm in the air for selection of the new NESU-Porky board for 2021 which will happen later this year. We know that NESU-Porky will be left in good hands.
