Harassment Contacts
Harassment liaison officers are there to support you if you have experienced harassment or inappropriate behaviour at events organized under NESU Finland or NESU Union. Harassment cases are dealt with jointly with the Equality Commission. In 2024, the Equality Commission will consist of Lauri Heinaro, Chair of the Board of NESU Finland, and Polina Korte, NESU President, and two other harassment contact persons outside of the board of NESU Finland, Joonatan Kaartinen and Viivi Saviranta.

How to get in touch?
You can contact us by email contactperson@nesu.net . On our website you can also find a contact form to report inappropriate behaviour to us. You can use the form on our website to report inappropriate behaviour or, for example, to give feedback anonymously. Please note that we are unable to deal directly with anonymous communications. However, we will also read anonymous submissions and, if necessary, contact the subject of the feedback. If you suspect that you have been the victim of a crime, please contact the authorities and report the crime.
What to do if you encounter inappropriate behaviour?
Cases are treated confidentially. When you report harassment you have experienced, information about the incident will first be shared only with the harassment contact persons. The harassment liaison officers can provide low-threshold counselling and referrals where necessary. If you want the case to be dealt with by the Equality Commission, the President of NESU Finland and the NESU President will also be informed. The Equality Commission will handle the case anonymously, with the identity of the parties involved being known only to the harassment contact persons. All parties involved will be heard before the Equality Commission decides on possible sanctions. In order to lead to a sanction, the offence committed must violate the NESU Finland Code of Conduct. The Equality Commission is bound by a duty of confidentiality. Any sanctions and measures will only be known to the Equality Commission and the parties involved in the case. Please note that there is not always a simple or universally satisfactory solution to every situation.
What if I am accused of inappropriate behaviour?
Even if you do not believe that you have been bullied or harassed, do not minimize the feelings of the person making the report and seek to immediately stop the behaviour you describe as inappropriate. You have the right to express your point of view at different stages of the process. You have the right to express your point of view at different stages of the process. Your actions cannot be considered improper until the matter has been clarified. This is done by reviewing the relevant documentation and talking to the parties involved.

Häirintäyhdyshenkilöt ovat tukenasi, jos olet kokenut häirintää tai epäasiallista käytöstä NESU Finlandin tai NESU Unionin alla järjestettävissä tapahtumissa. Voit ottaa yhteyttä häirintäyhdyshenkilöihin myös esimerkiksi niissä tapauksissa, joissa et ole itse kokenut häirintää, mutta koet haluavasi keskustella tapahtuneesta. Häirintäyhdyshenkilöt eivät ole viranomaisia, eivätkä ryhdy jatkotoimenpiteisiin ilman asianomaisen suostumusta. Toimikaudella 2023-2024 häirintäyhdyshenkilöinä toimivat Mika Brinkmann ja Veera Vaine. Häirintätapaukset käsitellään yhdessä yhdenvertaisuustoimikunnan kanssa. Vuonna 2024 yhdenvertaisuustoimikunta muodostuu häirintäyhdyshenkilöiden lisäksi NESU Finlandin hallituksen puheenjohtajasta Iida Aholasta ja NESU Presidentistä Janita Pirhosesta.

Nettisivuillamme on myös yhteydenottolomake, jolla voit raportoida meille kohtaamastasi epäasiallisesta käytöksestä. Nettisivuillamme olevan lomakkeen avulla sinun on mahdollista raportoida epäasiallisesta käytöksestä tai esimerkiksi antaa palautetta myös anonyymisti. Huomioithan, että anonyymejä yhteydenottoja emme pysty suoraan käsittelemään. Luemme kuitenkin myös anonyymit yhteydenotot ja olemme tarvittaessa yhteydessä palautteen kohteeseen.. Jos puolestaan epäilet joutuneesi rikoksen uhriksi, ole yhteydessä viranomaisiin ja tee rikosilmoitus.
Miten toimia, jos kohtaat epäasiallista käytöstä?
Tapaukset käsitellään luottamuksellisesti. Ilmoittaessasi kokemastasi häirinnästä tieto tapahtuneesta tulee ensin ainoastaan häirintäyhdyshenkilöiden tietoon. Häirintäyhdyshenkilöt voivat tarjota matalan kynnyksen keskusteluapua ja ohjata tarvittaessa eteenpäin. Mikäli haluat, että tapaus käsitellään yhdenvertaisuustoimikunnan toimesta, tulee tieto tapahtuneesta myös NESU Finlandin puheenjohtajan ja NESU Presidentin tietoon. Yhdenvertaisuustoimikunta käsittelee tapauksen anonyymisti siten, että asianosaisten henkilöllisyys on ainoastaan häirintäyhdyshenkilöiden tiedossa. Tapauksen käsittelyssä kuullaan kaikkia sen osapuolia ennen kuin yhdenvertaisuustoimikunta päättää mahdollisista seuraamuksista. Johtaakseen seuraamukseen, tapahtuneen rikkeen on rikottava NESU Finlandin eettistä ohjesääntöä. Yhdenvertaisuustoimikunnalla on vaitiolovelvollisuus. Mahdolliset seuraamukset ja toimenpiteet jäävät ainoastaan yhdenvertaisuustoimikunnan sekä tapauksen osallisten tietoon. Otathan huomioon, että jokaiseen tilanteeseen ei aina löydetä yksinkertaista tai kaikkia tyydyttävää ratkaisua.
Entä jos minua syytetään epäasiallisesta käytöksestä?
Vaikka et omasta mielestäsi olisikaan syyllistynyt kiusaamiseen tai häirintään, älä vähättele ilmoituksen tekijän tuntemuksia vaan pyri lopettamaan välittömästi epäasialliseksi kuvattu käytöksesi. Sinulla on oikeus tuoda oma näkökulmasi esille prosessin eri vaiheissa. Toimintaasi ei voida pitää epäasiallisena ennen kuin asiaa on selvitetty. Tämä tapahtuu asiaan liittyvää dokumentaatiota tarkastelemalla ja asianosaisten kanssa keskustelemalla.
