30.10. was the day we three walruses had eagerly waited for: our very first sitsi party outside KY! Luckily we had two more experienced KY-ers with us, so we didn’t have to survive all by ourselves. After a trip in a very crowded train we arrived to Tampere and decided to grab a bite to eat before heading to Sorin Klubi. As soon as we sat down, we realised that the pit stop at McDonald’s had been unnecessary: since the sitsi party had USA theme, the main course was a hamburger! All food and drinks were America-themed (Jello shots! Donuts!) and so were the costumes. There were cowboys, indians, teen moms, beauty queens and even some communists that tried to save us from the American capitalist propaganda.
Since we had prepared our own proggis in a bit of a hurry, we were quite impressed by what all the other cities had put together for the evening. Probably the most memorable proggis was when two girls from Preemio created the toasts a drink in honor of Boomi using banana yogurt, oregano, beer, blueberry soup and “iloliemi”. Later on, the entire crowd went wild when the toasts picked up their guitars and performed a potpourri of everyone’s favorite songs from the US. Let’s also not forget NESU-Boomi – their Robin-inspired song about a perfect sitsiproggis was still on repeat in our heads the next morning!
However, time flies when you’re having fun and soon it was time to head to the after party organised at a club called Fat Lady. Thank you NESU-Boomi, we had a great time!
