The new NESU Finland board was selected at NESU Kesämöksä in August and our term started on September 1st. After a bit over a month of acting in our new positions (or old in some cases), let us tell you what we are looking forward to in the coming year and what makes us excited at the moment.
What are your expectations for the upcoming year?
Nea Reunanen – Country representative & Chair of the Board
Huh, how should I put it all in such a short text? I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to continue my work as the chairperson of NESU Finland and hope to leave the organisation in a stable and healthy place.
This year I would like to focus on advancing the relationships between the NESU cities and on making NESU events as easily approachable as possible. I would also like to collaborate more with the NESU President on the international scale because I value our international friends and hope to one day see active members in all of the NESU countries.
I know the year will include too many memories to count and just as many new wonderful nesuits I will get to know and I can’t wait. This community is incredible and I love having the opportunity to make it even better. Together with our board I hope we will have fun times and pull through any challenges. And honestly, I believe my words from last year still apply. Let’s be active, keep busy and enjoy every second!
Venla Siukkola – Vice Chair of the Board
I’m so excited for the 2026–27 year!! All the sitz parties, conferences, rundis, and more.. <3 Our board is full of good friends and even better ideas, so stay tuned!
As the Vice Chairperson, my main goal is to continue and further develop our work with NESU-Alumni. I hope we can reach even more alumni and organize a few bigger events throughout the year. After a successful excursion with many new international NESUits, I also hope we can continue to strengthen and grow our international relations.
Alex Saarela – Treasurer
I’m most excited about the upcoming board term and getting to work with such an amazing group of people. I’m really looking forward to everything we’ll get to build together, from organising great events to coming up with new ideas and making them happen. There are definitely some exciting things in the works, so stay tuned!
I’m also really looking forward to the autumn NESU Conference in Turku and, of course, the countless sitz parties I’ll be attending throughout the year. I’m also excited about a new addition to my role, as I’ll be joining the NESU Excursion team as its Treasurer. Most of all, I can’t wait to meet both familiar faces and new nesuits all around Finland, make unforgettable memories and, of course, have a lot of fun along the way!
Otto Lehtimäki – Project Manager
I am most exited about of course all of our own events! I’m also super exited of the Autumn conference in Turku which is just around the corner, and well every other NESU event also!
As a project manager I can’t wait to have our own events and especially the “Wappurundi”! I hope we can provide you with some amazing event made by NESU Finland :).
Miska Tarkka – Head of Communications
I’m very excited for the upcoming year! What I’m looking forward to most is, once again, getting to know lots of new people and spending time with already familiar faces, because that’s what makes NESU so special.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what we’ll be cooking up over the next 10 months. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to give back to my beloved organization by building upon Finski’s communications and keeping them as efficient as ever. I’m eager to do my part in making this the best NESU year to date, and I’m beyond excited to work alongside our amazing board!
And once again, I can assure you that I’ll be as present as always—in as many cities as possible, week in, week out!
Hannes Hakala – Corporate relations
What I am mostly looking forward for this upcoming year is to create unforgettable events for all the nesuits. I am also looking forward to getting some great new partners for us that will make events even more enjoyable. Then last but not least I am looking forward to attending all the different NESU events and meeting new and old friends.

Riku Pyhtinen – Webmaster
From the coming year I am hoping to come up with new things to spice up and improve NESU even further both alone as the webmaster and together with the board. We have some ideas brewing at the moment and some are already put into action. So follow along what we will come up. Big things, or at least things, are coming! 🙂
I am also looking forward to all the NESU events I am going to attend and many ”last rodeos” are going to happen to me in the upcoming year as this is (or should be) my last year of studies. Despite that I am excited about meeting new faces in events and making many new memories during the year.
I am expecting to see you all in the rundis, conferences and sitz parties everywhere in Finland and maybe even abroad. See you there!
