Hey from Mikkeli! <3
Our year kicked off with an awesome trip to NESU Dagen 2024 and our first-ever sits. The “Who’s Your Daddy” theme was a hit! We were also excited to be one of the three cities taking part in NESU-Finland’s high school-themed Wappurundi. Our theme was prom night, so we put together the Princess Prom -sits, which were a blast. In addition, we’ve been having a great time with some ulkkarointi—it’s been really fun!
Next, we’re organizing the thesis sits to celebrate our second-year students finishing their theses. After that, we’ll take a short break to recharge before our busy summer schedule hits. NESU-Probba is organizing our traditional summer sits, o-week sits, and NESU kesämöksä this year. We’re staying busy with all these national NESU events, so hopefully, in the next years, it will be us visiting them in other cities.
Five years from now, we hope that sits will still be a big draw here in Mikkeli and attract even more attendees. We’re continuously working to make the sits more appealing for our international students while still keeping the tradition of Finnish and Swedish songs and other sits activities. We also hope to see more ulkkaris coming to Mikkeli and encourage Mikkeli students to visit other cities more often as well. Mikkeli is the place to be, so come check it out!
As we look forward, we’re optimistic about the next five years, and eager to keep collaborating and staying connected with other NESU cities. We also hope more people outside the NESU board will dive into ulkkarointi. All in all, NESU-Probba is doing really well and I couldn’t wish for a better board!
