Greetings from Joensuu!
This year, we have organized two NESU sitz parties and it was great to see how people found their way here to Joensuu too. The feedback from our first sitz party was incredibly positive, which is great to see that we manage to organize events that the people enjoy.
We will be able to culminate May for the people of Optimi by organizing May Day Eve “Munkinpaiston rasvapalo” sitz party. The event is also a good way to start one of our plans to make NESU-Optimi better known, as people from other subject associations can also join the sitz.
Our plan in the upcoming five years is to make Nesu-Optimi bigger and better. To get people interested in ulkkarointi both in Optimi, but also getting more people to Joensuu as well. For example, some of our team members did not even really know what NESU was fully about before joining the team. We aim to influence knowledge about NESU already this autumn. The plan is to invest in informing new students and awaken the NESU spark already in the first weeks of the semester. Hopefully, other organizations will also help with this by coming to our autumn events in large numbers. 😉
However, the plan is not limited only to people from NESU. It would be nice to bring NESU-Optimi to the attention of companies and other people through social media. With visibility, we would be able to present ourselves more, which would help us get new and more significant collaborations. It would also be nice to organize collaborations with other NESU organizations, arranging joint sitz parties or completely new events, for example.
The year has been full of great people and events, and it is a shame that all this is put on hold for a while after May Day. Luckily, there are sitz parties in the summer as well, but in the autumn at the latest, things will continue even busier with Nesu excursion and conference.
