Greetings from Pori!
NESU-PorKy has had a great start of the year and the spring semester has really flown by. During the spring, we have thrown two sitz-parties and also a NESU evening where we sowed overall patches and decorated our songbooks. During the upcoming wappu, our NESU organization is also creating yet another sitz-party with our student organization PorKy, which will be held next week. How exciting! Also, during the spring, we had a nice amount of attendees in the spring conference and in wappurundi. Compared to previous years, we have definitely got more NESU excitement in PorKy as well, as in last year’s wappurundi there were no official PorKy participants (even though two of our students participated in all of the sitz parties and had unofficial rundi) and now we had 7. Also, in last conference we only had 4 participants, a year ago in 2023 spring conference we had 0 and now in the latest spring conference we had 8! Also, we are organizing the next conference that we are really excited about as it will be held in Pori for the first time ever!
We are really happy with our current board that we have been getting such a great hype around our NESU within Pori and that is something we want to keep growing even more in the future. We have also been quite active with ulkkarointi this spring as well and definitely want to get even more hype around that during the next few years. We also want to get the hype around our NESU members even more as now we have the biggest activity within our board members and a few actives. We have been brainstorming ways to make NESU-PorKy more approachable, interesting and enticing. Within our own organization, we have been thinking about having more ‘chiller’ NESU-PorKy’s evening gatherings like the one we had in this spring with the song book decorating etc., so we would get better community spirit in NESU and be more easily approachable for example for people that don’t for example consume alcohol. Also, we have been thinking about getting some activity patches for both our members and NESU people around other NESU cities. Stay tuned for that… 😉
During the next five years we are also wanting to get more cooperations. The upcoming autumn conference we are having is a huge thing for us and it will definitely get us better in the NESU map and possibly also will give us great contacts with the local companies. Also, during the next five years it would be amazing to be a part of for example wappurundi some year as well. We are also interested in fostering collaborations with other NESU cities and want to pursue these possible opportunities. Business collaborations are something we want to expand more as well. Currently, we have and have had some business cooperations, but there is definitely room for growth with that. Also, there has been some discussion about possibly making NESU-PorKy a separate organization, as it is currently under PorKy ry. Maybe some day!
As you probably noticed, we have had a lot of new ideas for improvement, and this topic of development is something we are really excited about. Development is very current for us and something we have been discussing a lot about. We have many goals and also potential. Looking ahead, we are thrilled about the possibilities on the horizon.
