Gosh.
It sure doesn’t feel like a year has passed since I first started my journey in NESU Finland. However looking back at the pages of a tear away calendar, it would seem so.
Spending a year working with people who might be argued to be the greatest minds in NESU has been a pleasure and a privilege. Not only has it been a concrete learning experience in managing an organization’s funds and accounts, but also great experience in team work, co-operation and being part of a team.
During the past year, I’ve attended my first Conference, also known as Semma, (hopefully the first of many), been a part of my first Wappurundi and seen my fair share of sitzparties all over Finland. It’s been a blast and I’m grateful for all of you for attending the NESU-events and making this possible! I’m also especially thankful for my colleagues in the board of ’18 – ’19 who have supported me during the year and shared this adventure with me.
I do sometimes harken back to the days of yore when I was more young, more edgy and more radical — be it with NESU or life in general. It feels that this year has made me more mellow and softer as a person, no longer as naive or brash as in the past. Buuut.. I guess that’s the growth that’s happened during the year talking.
I can wholeheartedly recommend applying to everyone even slightly considering it. I haven’t regretted throwing my hat in the ring one bit during my time in the board. Being an integral part of the NESU-affairs in Finland has fueled my passion towards NESU to burn even more brighter than when I first applied a year ago.
If given the chance, I wouldn’t hesitate redoing this year all over again.
But as for rest of the time that I still have with this board, I’m going to enjoy every moment as if it were my last. So here’s one to hoping that this is the one wild ride which never ends.
Cheers! 🍻
